Welcome to my blog - a personal journal as well as repository of all manner of things that interest me. If I have broken rules or breached copyright laws in any way, kindly do not raise an army of lawyers on account of little ol' me. A politely worded advice is all that's needed to set me on the right path pronto. Thanks!... Oh and feel free to leave comments too!

Very old book. Sentimental connection with Dad who got me interested in UFOs and the unexplained
Bought this when I was in Delhi for a short stopover en route to Leh. Had I not so much baggage weight then, I would have bought more books.
This book was instrumental in creating an opportunity to travel to Ladakh. Not quite Zanskar but close enough.
Give a bear a pedicure! Absolutely dangerous to read this in public!
Actually met and had tea with Mr. Rajesh Bedi when in Delhi! Giant of man. Bear-like is how I will describe him. He signed this book! Thank you for the honour, Mr. Bedi.
First night landing @ Moscow International Airport I was looking for a concentration of lights to indicate the main airport terminal. Even as the aircraft was only hundreds of meters from the ground where I could clearly make out details like a van on the road beneath, yet I could not see the airport. I held my curiosity till the plane landed and stepped into the airport. Then I realised why I could not make out the airport from the air. Only in the sections where flights were being processed would be lit up. Everywhere else was dark.
Lightning Lace Can't remember which flight... London to KL/ KL to London? Irrelevant detail. Aircraft way above the cloud line. Very dark but not completely enveloped in night. Advanced dusk. Cabin lights out and most passengers quietly dozing under blankets. I like it like this when all is still and dark. Then I saw it beyond the window. Spreading outwards from the beneath the aircraft was this awesome silver lightning transmitting across the carpet of clouds all the way to the horizon. If I ever start a band I'd call it Lightning Lace!

By night even the most depressing or humdrum city makes the sublime transformation into a glorious vista with the power to move the human spirit. That is the trickery of light... On another note, when I first moved to KL to work I didn't much like it. That was back in 1993. Have I fully embraced it by now? Truly I am not certain. I'll say this though...Cities are fun to live in if one has the $$$ to enjoy it to the fullest.

i love flags!
How or when did my love for flags begin? For the life of me, NO IDEA! :-) But love them I do. Why?... Hmm, let me attempt to understand this obsession...
Firstly I love colours - all colours, all hues, all shades. I am drawn to paint brochures and paint mixing machines, and Pantone guide books! I suspect a rainbow features somewhere in my soul... People and friends mistakenly think I am childish or simple in my taste for the so-called garish hues of life. Many peers lean toward subtler shades or whatever... I suppose it subconsciously represents maturity and sophistication... Hmm, I am more than happy with rainbow-ness and I chuckle at so-called sophisticated urbane folks with their minimalism and their lattes. I'd like to believe that I KNOW colours intimately. That in my appreciation of them, colours have yielded to me their powers, secrets and natures.
Secondly, it is a confounding notion that a bit of cloth, marked with a few simple dashes of colour is one of, if not the most powerful symbol to all of mankind where blood has been shed on many a flag.... Flags, more than anthems or hymns, are vested with values, principles and beliefs that define and divide humankind. It is my belief that ancient tourism (read: the I came, I saw, I conquered kind) driven by politics or religion created division and thus gave birth to the flag.
I of course say all this is an un-informed manner... too lazy to go check Wikipedia or the Britannica! After all, this is my blog. And I choose to toy with fact and fiction like rubber duckies in bath water! :-) So yes I am fascinated by the exaltedness of flags, their power to bind and galvanise whole peoples...
Anyway, I have a flag fantasy... where every flag of the world drapes from the ceiling of my sitting room making it look like the Olympic Games village or the UN lobby! How cheery and 'global village' like.... One final touch... A King sized UN flag duvet for my bed! So I can sleep snug knowing that I am protected under the auspices of the United Nations! Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

Brought back by a close pal from her trip to glorious Barcelona. It's huge like probably 6 feet across! Great for waving! Ole!
south korea
App. 4 feet wide. Bought it when I was in Seoul on film production job when posted in Vietnam. Lucky enough to visit Seoul twice and absolutely love the place, the people, the culture... From my short time there, I observed that Koreans place great attention to grooming and attire... let's put it this way, every street sweeper I saw had perfectly styled & colour-dyed hair, wore flawless foundation and lipstick! I mean they were gorgeous mamas! Awesome! Made me feel like a homeless street urchin and that I was not stylish enough for the city!... which I admit is true :-)
australia
Didn't get one when I was there myself. Another one of my friends brought this back for me. Bless him!
vietnam
Nice size. App. 5 feet across. It used to hang on my bedroom wall above the headboard when I was living in Vietnam. Love the simple yellow star against red background design. Bold. Proud. Just like her people. Thanks Vietnam for hosting me for 2 years... I love your food, your people, your crazy street traffic, your cyclo, your traffic lights that no one heeds, your food, your land, your colour, your power kao-kao coffee, your love for feng-tao pop, your food, your artistry, your positivity, your courage, your elegance, your dignity....did I mention food?
